The Week That Was: Omaha Wins Shootout Over Amarillo; Cleveland, Chicago and Toronto Claim Victories

Chicago, Ill. – Match week three brought an exciting round of matchups across the league. 

Here’s a recap:

Colorado vs. Chicago Mustangs

Colorado opened the scoring in the first period with Moutaz Badawi’s goal, but Chicago took over the second period with a series of power play goals from Dario Gamboa and Gabriel Jurado. Despite a response from Colorado, including a shootout goal from Badawi and an equalizer from Tomas Tapia, Chicago maintained their edge, closing the second period with a 4-3 lead.

In the final two periods, Colorado briefly tied the game with Bryan Vazquez’s goal in the third, but Chicago surged ahead in the fourth. Gamboa completed his hat trick early in the period, while Gerardo Perez and Nestor Dominguez added goals, sealing the win. 

Cleveland vs. Lansing

Admir Suljevic led the charge for Cleveland, contributing seven goals, including three penalty kicks, and several assists. Cleveland’s offense exploded early, netting six goals in the first period and eight more in the second, with standout efforts from Ma'Cain Spragling, Jannis Schmidt and Michael Derezic. Lansing briefly equalized in the first period through Craig Fritz Jr., and Storm Powers added a second goal in the second period. Cleveland maintained its momentum in the second half to secure the win.

Omaha vs. Amarillo 

The Omaha Kings FC (Omaha, Neb.) faced off against the Amarillo Bombers (Amarillo, Texas) on Saturday night, securing a match victory with a 2-0 shootout win. The Kings advanced to 2-1, while the Bombers fell to 0-1.

Ft. Wayne vs. Toronto

Summit City United (Ft. Wayne, Ind.) traveled to Toronto to take on the Canadian Crusaders (Toronto, Canada). The Crusaders came out strong, and advanced to a 2-1 overall record and third place in the league standings.
