THE WEEK THAT WAS 1/19

Chicago, Ill. – Last week in the Major League Indoor Soccer (MLIS) there was exciting matchups across the board. 


Summit City United (Ft. Wayne, Ind.) secured their first regular season win against Panathinaikos Chicago (Chicago PAO). The Cleveland Crunch (Cleveland, Ohio) remain undefeated with a close win over the Chicago Mustangs (Chicago, Ill), Omaha Kings (Omaha, Neb.) secured the win over the Colorado Bucks and Canadian Crusaders (Toronto, Canada) defeated Red Cedar FC (Lansing, Mich.).


Here’s the match week recap:


Chicago vs. Cleveland

Cleveland secured a 7-4 victory over Chicago, with Aidan Bozak scoring twice and adding assists on other key goals. Parker Csiszar also contributed with a goal, while David Jordan and Admir Suljevic added goals in the third period. Omar Najjar’s late goal, followed by Bozak’s power play goal in the fourth, sealed the win for Cleveland.

The match was tied 2-2 at one point, after Chicago fought back with goals from Gabriel Jurado and Dario Gamboa. Gerardo Perez also netted a goal for Chicago, but despite their efforts, Cleveland capitalized on their power play opportunities and secured the victory.

Toronto vs. Lansing

Toronto secured a victory over Lansing with Sebastián López leading the way, scoring 5 goals. Raheem Rose, Zak Drake and Leaford Allen each contributed 3 goals, while Andy Baquero Ruiz and Darius Kerr-Cooper scored 2 goals each.

Lansing saw goals from Ali Kaid, Giovanni Alvarado and Craig Fritz Jr., but despite these efforts, they were unable to close the gap.

Colorado vs. Omaha

The Omaha Kings won their match against Colorado, finishing with a 16-6 victory. The game began with an early goal from Omaha’s Bernardo Torres, assisted by Daniel Zuckweiler. Colorado quickly equalized with Alexander Fernandez's goal, but Omaha took the lead with a penalty kick from Ali Sodal and additional goals from Torres, Gabi Gaiotto and Pedro Tostes. By the end of the first period, Omaha led 5-1. They continued to control the game in the second and third periods, with goals from several players, including Leonides Mejia, David Panter and Soe Reh. Despite efforts from Colorado, including goals from Tomas Tapia and Moutaz Badawi, Omaha extended their lead.

The final period saw Omaha add more goals from Manuel Lira and another from David Panter. Colorado’s offense struggled to close the gap, and Omaha maintained their advantage throughout. The game featured multiple penalty cards, including blue cards for reckless tackles and interference, with both teams serving time penalties. Omaha’s consistent scoring helped them secure the win, ending the game with a score of 16-6.

Ft. Wayne vs. Chicago Pao


Ft. Wayne secured their first win over Chicago PAO with a 7-6 final score. The match was a close contest, with both teams exchanging leads throughout. With this win, Ft. Wayne moved up to 7th place in the league standings, just below Chicago PAO at 6th.
